RESCUE YOUR DNA INFORMATION FROM ANCESTRY

If you have taken a Y-DNA or mtDNA with Ancestry you are probably wondering how to rescue your data and information when Ancestry discontinues their Y-DNA and mtDNA data bases in September.   First and foremost you should download you raw data files to your own personal computer and second transfer you data to y-search or FamilyTreeDNA.  You also need to gather as much information as you can about your matches and begin to contact them before the data bases are removed from Ancestry.  You can find information on downloading your raw data from Ancestry website http://help.ancestry.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5557/kw/download%20dna%20raw%20data and the following blog from Roberta Estes gives details on how to accomplish the latter action.

Happy ancestor hunting.
