Ancestry.com has a sale on their autosomal
AncestryDNA test until Father’s Day 21 June. This makes the cost of the test
$89 plus $9.95 shipping. If you take the AncestryDNA test at this price,
you can then transfer your raw data to FTDNA for $39 and have matching
comparisons with testers in both databases. Testing in this way will
compare your test results in two databases, therefore more comparisons and
matches. If you do not understand the advantages of testing with both
companies click HERE
to read an excellent article on “Why Upload to GEDmatch or FTDNA?”.
The transfer to GEDmatch is free and information on this transfer
can be found HERE (Note! GEDmatch is down at
present time due to server problems but should be up soon).
The test that is on sale at AncestryDNA is not
the y-DNA test that traces the male surname line but it will help you discover
living cousins with which you have a common ancestor. FTDNA is the only
company that offers the y-DNA test and I expect it to be on sale for Father’s
day. I will let you know as soon as I found out any information on a
sale.
