NEW LOOK TO FAMILYSEARCH.ORG!!
If you have logged onto FamilySearch.org today you probably noticed their new look.
Never fear, everything is still there. Just a different way of getting to what you want. Just click on "search" at the top of the page and you should be in familiar territory. Some new things have been added: The ability to preserve memories by adding photos and a new genealogy fan chart that you can display your family tree that you have on FamilySearch. So, we need to get to work now to get our tree on the new FamilySearch family tree.
Personally, I like the new look. It brings a lot of color to the page and is easier to get where you want than on the old page.
What are your thoughts and/or questions? Comment on this post to let us know.
FAMILYSEARCH RECORD COLLECTIONS ADDED OR UPDATED APRIL 15-16, 2013
The following is a list of records that have been added or updated on FamilySearch in the past two days. Some of these records are new record collections and others are record collections that have had new images added. By my calculations FamilySearch has added 1,005 record collections since 7 January 2011 for a total of 1,524. Within the last week they have added twelve. If you see a record listed that could contain information about your family be sure to check it out. The images you are looking for may have been added in the latest update.

WW ll DRAFT REGISTRATION CARDS FOR LOUISIANA AND ARKANSAS
For some time I have been searching for my Father's World War ll draft registration cards. I had searched many times on FamilySearch Historical Records Collection and was not able to find the record. Thanks to the assistance of my daughter, Lynne, I have been able to find not only his draft registration card but also the cards of his three brothers.
In the last year FamilySearch has added four collections to their site that covers most of the Registration Draft cards of WW II in the states of Louisiana and Arkansas. The title of these records are:
Louisiana, First Registration Draft Cards, 1940-1945
Arkansas, First Registration Draft Cards, 1940-1945
These records are for individuals born between February, 1897 and 1928.
Louisiana, Second Registration Draft Cards, compiled 1948-1959
Arkansas, Second Registration Draft Cards, 1948-1959
These records are for individuals born between 1922 and 1940
To find these record collections:
On the home page of FamilySearch click on "Browse all Public Collections"
Type "draft" in the Filter by Collection Name Box
The links to the record collections will appear in the results
When reading the descriptions of the records notice that they are not complete and are being updated as images become available. Check back frequently to see if they have been updated. I will be posting notices when these and all records are updated, so visit this site often.

FAMILYSEARCH RECORDS ADDED OR UPDATED APRIL 12-13, 2013
Quite a few records have been added and updated on FamilySearch the last two days. Look through the list and see if there are any in the locations that you are searching. I hit the jackpot last night looking at the updated Alabama Estate Files. They had added probate records for Jesse Attaway - one of my long standing brick walls. There were 47 images of records with great genealogical research information. The records listed all of his children's names, their spouses and their ages and where the were living during the period of the probate record. There was a three page document giving detailed family information. Found out that Barenstine Attaway,s (son of Jesse, my great grandfather) nickname was "governor." If I had not run across this information it would not have come to light and probably have been lost forever. Keep a check on FamilySearch's updates - they are doing a tremendous job.
