GENCOM DNA SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP MEETING
GENCOM
DNA Special Interest Group will meet on Wednesday, 10 September 2014 at 10:00
a.m. in the large meeting room of the Broadmoor Branch Library. Many new
and exciting events have happened in the world of Genetic Genealogy and I am
sure that many of you have taken tests and discovered new relatives. At
our meeting we will review the basics of the three types of DNA testing and
answer questions that anyone has about DNA testing. If you have taken a
DNA test and are having difficulty understanding and analyzing the test results
we will be glad to assist you so you may get the most out of your test
results. Bring your kit number and password with you and we will view
your results and advise on the best way to work with your results.
We
will also be looking at how to work with and understand your X-DNA results, a
new feature that has been added to the FamilyTree DNA website.
Hope
to see you there.

CORRESPONDING WITH YOU DNA MATCHES
At our GENCOM DNA Special Interest Group meetings, I have been asked
several times how to correspond with matches on your DNA results.
On her blog, Roberta Estes lists twenty three ways not to correspond or
respond to your matches. Even though she lists the “Do Nots” you can
probably pick up many hints about how to properly communicate.
Our next DNA SIG meeting will be Wednesday 16 April 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Broadmoor Branch Library, 1212 Captain Shreve Drive, Shreveport. Anyone interested in DNA testing is welcome to attend. You may contact me at jgjones09@gmail.com or phone (318) 773-7406 for information.
