MORE HELP ON HOW TO SEARCH ON FAMILYSEARCH.ORG

At our March GENCOM meeting I taught how to search for your ancestors using FamilySearch. One of the points I made was, that if you used the top search area on the historical records search page you would not be searching the records that had not been indexed. To search for all of the records that could contain information about your ancestors, you need to use the "Browse all published collections" or "Browse by location" at the bottom of the page. This will find all of the indexed and non-indexed records. You may have to spend a little more time browsing the collections, but it is well worth it when you find the records for which you are searching.

Randy Seaver has an excellent article on his "Genea-Musings" blog that explains in detail how and why you need to use this type search on FamilySearch.

Happy ancestor hunting.

FAMILYTREE DNA POPULATION FINDER UPDATE TO BE RELEASED SOON

Esther and I have received this notice of this update on several of our kinfolks test kits that we are administering but so far have not received a notice on our own person test kit.  Keep on the lookout for this new update from FamilyTree DNA.  Will be interesting to see how this compares to AncestryDNA and 23andMe.

Happy ancestor hunting
